Study Session

The Board of Education held a follow-up discussion on possible grade reconfigurations, program closures, and long-term school closures. The district will gather additional public input on these issues in an upcoming public comment periods and a public hearing. The Board may vote on the issues during its meeting on December 2, 2025.  

Board Meeting

REPORTS

• The board held its first public comment period on possible grade reconfigurations, program closures, and long-term school closures. The next public comment period is scheduled for Monday, November 3, 2025. The meeting is on Monday instead of Tuesday to avoid meeting on Election Day. 

• The board reviewed preliminary 2025–26 enrollment reports based on October 1 counts. These reports are still under review. Final versions will be posted for public review on the district website once they are finished 

• Staff presented 2024–25 End-of-Year (EOY) student assessment data. The presentation reviewed student outcomes across grades K–12 and progress toward increasing grade-level proficiency in core academic areas. 

• A presentation on district transportation operations highlighted current challenges and ongoing efforts to balance student safety, efficiency, and state compliance. 

• The board received a report on transportation for special education students, including training and support for drivers and data on routes serving special education programs. 

DISCUSSIONS

• The board received an overview of family-school and community collaboration efforts. The former family and school collaboration positions at some schools were discussed. The Board Finance Committee will further study the issue. 

• Policy updates were recommended to Policy B-1: Board of Education Legal Status, Responsibilities, and Ethics to reflect the board’s newly adopted norms, and adjustments were proposed to the Student Board Member Application Guidelines to encourage representation from all high schools. This item was moved to the action agenda. 

ACTION

• Items 1A and 1B were removed from the consent agenda for further discussion and then approved by the board. 

• Changes to Policy B-1: Board of Education Legal Status, Responsibilities, and Ethics; Student Board Member Application; and Student Board Member Application Guidelines were approved, with one edit.
