What's Happening in the Library?

-  The Battle of the Books kicks off in September!

-  October 2nd – Parents and Pastries for Kindergarten families at 8:15am

 

Library classes begin August 18th!

Students are also welcome to come to the library 15 minutes after school for a quick drop off and check out when finished with their library book

Below is this year's list of award-winning, Battle Books: If you have a student who is entering 4th- 6th grades this coming year, please consider reading these books with your student! These are award winning books in various genres. Students in 4th, 5th, & 6th, are invited, monthly, to read & discuss books culminating in a school & then District competition. You can locate these books on SORA or at the public library, too!

Salt Lake City School LIBRARY Mission Statement

The goal of our Library Learning Centers is to help students and staff become effective users of ideas and information. Each school’s Library Learning Center is led by a certified Library Technology Teacher, whose work has a proven, positive impact on student learning and achievement.

Our Library Technology Teachers wear many hats—they are teachers, instructional partners, information specialists, and program coordinators who make the library the heart of learning in every school.

  • As teachers, they help students and staff learn how to find, understand, and use information effectively.

  • As instructional partners, they collaborate with classroom teachers to design engaging lessons and integrate research and technology into everyday learning.

  • As information specialists, they ensure students have access to high-quality, diverse resources in all formats—print, digital, and multimedia.

  • As program coordinators, they guide the vision and goals of the Library Learning Center, ensuring it supports the school’s mission and serves the needs of the entire learning community.

Together, these roles create a vibrant space where students read, explore, create, and grow as lifelong learners.
