New Calendars Approved

The Board of Education approved calendars for the next three school years: 2026-27, 2027-28, and 2028-29. To find the printable calendars in English, go to our Calendars webpage, scroll down to “Printable Calendars,” and click on the year you want to see. We will have PDFs available soon in other languages spoken by SLCSD families.

Celebrating Excellence in Education

Great teachers are one of the reasons Salt Lake City School District is Utah’s flagship district.

The board recognized ten educators who earned or renewed National Board Certification, the highest professional credential in education. SLCSD has more National Board Certified Teachers than any district in Utah, with 22 more teachers working toward certification!

The board also recognized Bryant Baird, teacher librarian at Ensign Elementary, who received the UVU “For the Love of Reading” Literacy Champion Award. SLCSD is one of only two districts in Utah with certified teacher librarians in every elementary school, helping students build strong reading skills.

District Receives Financial Award for 48th Year in a Row

The board reviewed the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. Independent auditors issued a clean audit with no findings, and the district earned a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. This is the 48th consecutive year we’ve earned this recognition, longer than any other government agency in the state, reflecting our strong financial stewardship and leadership.

Construction Updates

District leaders shared updates on the Highland High School and West High School rebuilds, including plans for temporary athletic fields to support students during construction. Leaders emphasized careful planning and responsible use of bond funds.

SLCSE/Bryant MS Partnership Update

The board received an update on the partnership between SLCSE-Bryant Middle School and the Salt Lake Center for Science Education (SLCSE). At a future meeting, the Board will consider whether to dissolve the partnership and to follow the process outlined in policy for a proposed school name change for SLCSE-Bryant Middle School. No action was taken at this meeting.

Board Calendar Update

The Board Meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 17, has been moved to Wednesday, March 18, to avoid conflicts with neighborhood caucus meetings.
